Vigne Vecchie 2014

Calabretta are one of the OG wineries on Mount Etna and their Vigne Vecchie one of Etna's most historic wines. It's 100% Nerello Mascalese from their oldest vines in Contrada Calderara Sottana and Taccione, aged for up to nine years in large casks before being bottled for release. The wine walks a tightrope between being mature, yet fresh and energetic at the same time with a distinct personality. Its a little wild with notes of leather, spice, tobacco and earth - its a wine that must be tried because there is nothing else like it on Etna.
