Barolo Castelletto La Villa 2021

The Seghesio family are located in Monforte d'Alba, specifically the cru of La Villa that lies between Castelletto and Ginestra. Their wines blend modern and traditional winemaking with a light hand in the cellar that favours elegance and balance.

La Villa is from their oldest vines, aged for twelve months in old barriques followed by twelve months in large botti. Dark cherry fruit with hints of orange, yellow peach and spice, the palate is concentrated and complex with firm tannins and refreshing acidity, wrapped up in a medium weight framework. There is beautiful balance here, one of the key signatures of the vineyard. 

The 2021 Barolo La Villa is fabulous. Dark and vibrant in the glass, the 2021 is alluring right out of the gate. Expressive spice and mentholated noted meld into a core of dark red/purplish fruit. Hints of blood orange, amaro herbs, coffee and menthol add further shades of nuance. There's so much to admire. Finessed tannins pull it all together in style. 95, Antonio Galloni
