Popular white variety that is now being planted in Australia. Makes steely, refreshing whites in Sardinia and Liguria and a more full-bodied wine in coastal Tuscany. Best in northern Sardinia in the rocky area of Gallura, where the wines are minerally and capable of long ageing.
