A cross between Traminer and Österreichisch-Weiß (meaning ‘Austrian White’), Sylvaner was once a popular grape throughout central Europe. In Alto Adige it is grown mostly in the Eisack Valley, north of Bolzano. Notes of hay and gooseberry, the palate has good body with Alto Adige’s typical freshness.
