Barbera

Italy’s second most planted red grape is no longer the workhorse variety it once was and has gained a reputation for quality, especially in Monferrato, Asti and Alba in Piedmont. Deeply coloured with rich plum fruit, high acidity and low tannins, it lends itself well to barrique ageing.
